Punjab Technical University (PTU) was established on January 16, 1997, through an Act of the State Legislature. Its primary objective is to foster technical, management, and pharmaceutical education at the degree level and beyond in the state of Punjab, India. Originally known as Punjab Technical University, it was later renamed Punjab Technical University in 2015, in honor of Late Sh. Inder Kumar Gujral, the former Prime Minister of India.
